Jr. Jazz
Ashlyn and Logan have started Jr. Jazz. Logan is very aggressive. He is the strongest defensive player on the team. I guess having an older brother who is constantly stealing the ball from him might be the reason he is so good. Last game he made a nice basket as well.
Ashlyn on the other hand is a very different story. I never seen someone play so girly. Although she is pretty fast when she wants to be, she spends more time prancing down the court. She puts up her hands up to protect her head when someone passes to her. She will catch a bounce pass. One of the boys from her class is always trying to pass her the ball. One of these days he'll give up. She spends the whole game just running up and down the court watching the game. We might have to practice a little with her before we put her in sports again. She does like the jersey as long as she gets to be the green team. She had a full on melt down when she had to be white for the first time. She kept saying, "Is this cute? No!" I guess what should I expect from my daughter who wants to be a supermodel. I forgot to take pictures of her. I will have to add them. She does look cute in her uniform.
Connor's Birthday
I can't believe that Connor is 10. It is weird to think that he will be a teenager in a few years. Happy Birthday Connor. We love you!!
Wheeler Farm
We went down to Wheeler Farm one day when the kids had school break. All the kids had fun picking a pumpkin. The little kids also liked the corn maze and hay ride. Connor wasn't overly excited about most of the activities. After Wheeler Farm we headed to Gardner Village. It was a madhouse. We couldn't believe all the people. The witches are fun to see but we will avoid UEA weekend from now on. Wheeler Farm was much more fun. I think we'll try that again next year.
Cool Utes Gear
Connor has a friend whose dad helps transport the Utes equipment. Once in a while we will go down on the field after the game. This friend will take the boys in the locker room and the boys raid the cool stuff that the players leave on the ground (garbage). Logan is sporting the skull cap that was really a sleeve of an Under Armour shirt. He was especially excited about the mouth piece he found. Yuck! We boiled it for a good long time but it is still gross. Luckily he realized that it was far too big for his mouth. The boys love the times spent in the locker room and on the field. The last time we went Coach Whittingham spent some time talking to them. He even gave them some candy--like the experience wasn't enough. They also love getting autographs from the players and playing on the field. It is impossible to get them off the field. I don't think the boys realize how lucky they are.

Logan's First Comp Soccer Game
Logan had his first soccer game. His team (SW Storm) has several of the boys he has played with for the last couple of years in AYSO. Logan had a great game. He played defender the entire game. He has become very aggressive. You wouldn't expect that out of sweet Logan. It was fun to start the season with a win. Great job Storm!
The Storm had a scrimmage last night. It was against a very good team that they will meet again at the end of the season. It shocked our boys to be completely dominated by another team. Logan played goalie for a little while. I have been trying to talk him out of playing goalie. He did a great job for a first try. He was aggressive but just struggled with making the choice to come out or stay in. He had some great stops. I don't know if he will ever be goalie again but I think he could be really good if he keeps practicing.

Logan's Baptism
Logan has been looking forward to his baptism all year. It was a very special day. Grandpa and Grandma Gray and Grandpa and Grandma Hatch and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends and ward members were able to come share his special day. Grandpa Gray gave a good talk on the Holy Ghost. It was a fun day for his primary class because 4 kids were baptized. We are very proud of the choices Logan has made in his life. He is a very loving compassionate boy. It is important to him to choose the right. We love you Logan.
First Bus Ride
Ashlyn was ready to finally start school. She has been especially excited to ride the bus. She looks forward to school everyday. She even loves her homework. Its great when kids love school!
Logan's Birthday
Logan wanted a electric guitar for his birthday. Although he picked it out he was really excited to open it. We surprised him with some soccer goals. Logan had school and then we had to hurry to Connor's soccer game so it wasn't the birthday he had dreamed of. We ate at Chuck-a-rama after Connor's game and Chad took Logan golfing the next day. Hopefully he had a fun couple of days. I told him that when you get old birthdays are boring so it was a sign of how grown up he is now. Happy birthday 8 year old. We love you. You are getting too grown up.
Fan Fest
The kids love to go down to Fan Fest at the U. There are booths representing all the different athletes. The boys really liked the baseball player dunk booth and the punt return drill. Ashlyn liked the cheerleaders and drill team and the bounce slide. The kids also got to have their picture taken with Storm the redtail hawk that comes out at the beginning of football games. The biggest hit this year was the old equipment/uniforms. Who wouldn't want some Utah players old socks? Connor bought his Halloween costume. An entire Utah baseball players uniform. Logan bought a baseball helmet as well but he lost his Utah hat in the process so it wasn't such a great deal after all. We always have a great time at fan fest.
First Day of Kindergarten (kind of)
Ashlyn got to go visit her classroom and meet her teacher on the first day of school. She then had to wait another week before really starting. She has been waiting for this day for a long time. Logan had Mrs. King so Ashlyn was very excited when she found out she had her too. Our baby has grown up.

Strikers Soccer Tournament
Connor had his first soccer tournament this week. He played so hard in the first game but he got a muscle strain. The next two games he was a little rustier because he was in pain and was trying out some new positions. They even had him play goalie so he could rest his leg. He had a couple of good stops. Today he was back to playing great. His team came in second place in his division. It was a great start to comp soccer.
Logan's Birthday Party
Logan had his friend party a couple of weeks early so we could go before school starts. He decided to have it in Draper at Cowabunga Bay. We had gone a couple of weeks before and had so much fun that we decided it would be fun to have his party there. Although there are several water slides, the kids spent most of the time in the lazy river. I don't blame them because the lazy river is very warm and it was a little windy especially up at the top of the water slides. The kids all had a good time. Too bad Logan is the only one with a summer birthday.
