We had a lot of fun in Florida. We went with our neighbors, Matt and Julie Connors and their daughters Claire (Ashlyn's friend) and Stella. We had great weather for the most part. It was wonderful to leave SLC's 14 degree weather for Orlando's 80 degree weather. It did get cooler as the week went on and rained a couple of the days but it still felt great to us. We went into all of the Disney World parks. We started with the Magic Kingdom--similar to Disneyland. Snow White was the first thing we saw as we came into the park. I was a little disappointed because Ashlyn didn't light up like Logan did, but, she is not Logan. It was a different experience with a girl. Ashlyn loved the princesses, the princess castle and the princess shows--who would have guessed? She also liked It's a Small World--the boys rode this years ago and have refused to ever ride it again. It was fun to see how much Ashlyn liked it. Ashlyn was able to ride almost everything. I was glad we could ride everything as a family. I think there was only one ride all week that she couldn't ride. Her friend wasn't as lucky. We did parent swaps with the Connors so they could ride some of the bigger rides. During one of the swaps when I was taking the other girls to the bathroom, Ashlyn ran away from Chad. She thought she would follow me to the bathroom. The only problem was I went to a different bathroom than I had taken her to a few minutes before. When I got back Chad was frantically looking for her. I knew instantly what she had done. I quickly headed towards the other bathroom. I found her in a fork in the pathway. She had gone down the opposite way from the bathroom so I found her just in time. I was so greatful that it wasn't very busy. I don't know how I would have found her in a crowd. She wasn't even worried. From then on she sat with Chad in the wheelchair because she didn't want to wear a harness. I had a long talk with her about wandering away and told her that bad guys might take her. Later in the trip, Chad was teasing her and she pretended to pick up a phone and said, "Hello, bad guys, will you come and get my Dad. Thanks." I guess I will be more careful about what I say to her.
One of the days we went to Cocoa Beach. It was a nice day so the kids played in the water for quite a while. Logan spent a lot of the time looking for shells. It was weird because when we got home his teacher said he needed to bring in a collection of 100 things. He wanted to bring the shells and when we counted them he had exactly 100 shells.
I love family vacations. It is fun to see the kids experience new things. I love to see their excitement. Logan is always afraid to ride the big rides but he lights up when he is on them and is always proud of himself after. His favorite thing was the car and motorcycle stunt show at Holleywood Disney. Connor was our swimmer this time. He liked to pool better than the parks--even at night when it was cold. His favorite ride was Expedition Everest--a rollercoaster at Animal Kingdom. Ashlyn was as girly as ever but she also loves the big rides. Although she loved the characters and shows, I think her favorite ride was actually Soaring. She would have gone on it over and over but it was one of the few long lines. We had so much fun but it is always nice to come home. Ashlyn was really sad to leave but I think the boys were ready.

Traveling

The kids did great on the plane. I was worried about Ashlyn but she played almost the whole time. When we landed in Atlanta she yelled Yeah we are in Florida. Everyone around us laughed.

Mickey and Minnie

It was cute to see Logan still get excited about seeing Mickey. We thought we were doing it for Ashlyn but Logan was the first to run up to them.

Cameras

The boys wanted digital cameras for their souvenir so we headed to Walmart on the second day. They spent the rest of the trip looking through them. We had to take Logan's away several times because he would lag far behind us. All we needed was to lose another child.

Princesses

We visited the princesses twice. They were the whole reason we went to Disney World weren't they? Sleeping beauty over heard us teasing Logan about taking pictures with the pricesses and she quietly stood behind Chad while I took one.

Florida

Cub Scouts

Connor was introduced at the pack meeting this month. He has been a wolf for a couple of months but we had to miss pack meeting in November because of Parent Teacher Conference and they didn't have Pack Meeting in December. He was very excited. When a new scout comes in the parents/or scout leader (I'm not actually sure because I feel both roles) paint the boys face as an introduction. He also received his bobcat (he is pinning it on me in the picture) and a swimming belt loop. Connor is loving scouts. I am trying to get used to it again. It is a little more caotic than I remember.

Knee Surgery

I have had a very busy month. I have slacked on blogging. Chad had his knee surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago. Everything went very well. He wasn't allowed to walk on it at all for 1 week and then he was supposed to ease into walking without crutches--He got rid of them on the first day. He is getting better every day but it will be a couple of months before it heals.
