Strikers Soccer Tournament

Connor had his first soccer tournament this week.  He played so hard in the first game but he got a muscle strain.  The next two games he was a little rustier because he was in pain and was trying out some new positions.  They even had him play goalie so he could rest his leg.  He had a couple of good stops.  Today he was back to playing great.  His team came in second place in his division.  It was a great start to comp soccer.

Logan's Birthday Party

Logan had his friend party a couple of weeks early so we could go before school starts.  He decided to have it in Draper at Cowabunga Bay.  We had gone a couple of weeks before and had so much fun that we decided it would be fun to have his party there.  Although there are several water slides, the kids spent most of the time in the lazy river.  I don't blame them because the lazy river is very warm and it was a little windy especially up at the top of the water slides.  The kids all had a good time.  Too bad Logan is the only one with a summer birthday. 

South Weber Days

The kids had a lot of fun running to the candy at the parade.  They all ended up with a bag full.  After the parade Connor participated in Anything Goes.  It is a relay with 3 boys and 3 girls.  Connor was so determined to play this year that he actually called some girls.  It was fun to watch.  Connor was smart during the eating of the oatmeal clump. They said it had to be off the plate so he put his mouth around the whole thing and lifted up.  It hung out of his mouth but was off the plate.  One of his friends unfortunately did not come up with this plan and he didn't keep it down long. The events were funny to watch.  On the tubes Connor and his friend Calvin kept flipping of the tube.  They were soaked.  Connor had a blast.

Heber Valley Camp

After Devin's baptism we went to Heber Valley Camp the Rawlinson cousins. Dave's parents are the missionaries in charge of the camp so we were able to go on a Saturday night. We debated whether or not Logan was too sick to go but he really wanted to go.  We were sure he just had one of his migraines that would go away with time.  Logan slept in the car on the way to Heber.  He seemed a little better but quickly went downhill when we were back out in the sun.  He laid on the benches while we did the ropes course and canoed. I felt like a horrible mom but he didn't want to leave. After a couple hours he asked to go lay down in the cabin.  He woke up in extreme pain and a high fever so Chad, Ashlyn and I headed back to American Fork. We were worried that he had heat stroke so we wanted to be close to the hospital.  Logan is used to migraines so he has a pretty high pain tolerance.  I usually have to ask him if he has a headache.  He tries to hide them from us when he doesn't want to miss something so this was very unusual for him.  I don't think I have ever seen him in such pain.  He just said his head hurt.  We ended up in the ER after a couple of hours sleep at Chad's parent's house.  He had strep.  I was happy it was so easily cured but I was mad because I had taken Logan in to the doctor earlier in the week because he had a ear ache.  The doctor I could get into said  it was swimmers ear.  As he tried to send us away after just looking in his ears, I asked him to check his throat because he was swallowing to decide if his ear hurt.  The doctor quickly looked in his throat and said it looked fine. Then dismissed any connection between kids thinking their ear hurt when it was their throat.  I even told him that one of Logan's friends had strep but still didn't offer to do a culture.  GRRR.  The moral of the story is wait until you can see your own doctor.  It would saved Logan for suffering and missing a fun weekend.
Any way, back to Heber Valley camp. Connor loved the zip line and paddle boats.  He didn't even hesitate as he climbed the post and went across the tight rope.  Ashlyn loved the canoes and the stage.  Amy and Dave were good sports to watch her many shows.  She was disappointed that I didn't attend them because I was with Logan.  Chad and  I braved the ropes course and survived--I hate heights.  We would have had a great time had Logan been well.  We'll have to go again some time.

Devin's Baptism

Logan's twin, our nephew Devin, had his baptism on July 31.  Logan and Devin have always been great friends so it was an day Logan was looking forward to for a long time.  Unfortunately Logan had a severe headache.  He put a smile on for most of the pictures but he was really sick.

Ogden Nature Center with the Cub Scouts

We went on some fun field trips with cub scouts this summer.  The our kids and the Sargent boys especially loved the red tail hawk.  They made their Utes signs because it reminded them of swoop.  Ashlyn didn't get the whole swoop thing so she made her sign in front of the bald eagle.
